The Davila Group commemorates its first centenary
Last Saturday the Davila Group, to which Altius belongs, celebrated its first centenary in the city where it was born, Vigo.
The commemoration took place at the Marina Davila Restaurant on Saturday, 16 September, during a dinner presided over by the current Group's CEO, Eduardo Davila. The event was attended by 450 people from all its branches in Spain (Algeciras, Barcelona, Valencia, Madrid, Bilbao, Zaragoza, Seville, Marin, and Vigo) and the heads of all its branches around the world, and will serve to pay tribute to the leaders and teams that have preceded them in time and their current collaborators.
The origins of Grupo Davila date back to 1917, with the foundation in Vigo of its parent company, Joaquín Davila y Cía, a company that focuses its activities on the representation of tramp vessel owners, project and regular line cargo, chartering, customs agents, transits, air and land cargo and integral logistics.
In 1993 Termavi, Terminales Marítimas de Vigo was created, a company in charge of container traffic management in the Port of Vigo.
Another milestone in the history of the Davila Group was the foundation, in 1999, of the freight forwarding company Altius, which would allow it to extend its services to the field of integrated logistics to assist the Foreign Trade sector and which specializes in the transport of large structures by sea. Altius currently has offices in 10 countries in America and Europe.
The Group also has other companies specializing in its sector that complete its offer, such as Yacht Consultancy, which specializes in yacht and chartering services, and Marina Davila Sport, which offers customers a comprehensive service in the field of nautical sports.
It also has its own port facilities, such as those of Termavi, at the container terminal in Vigo, and those of the company DART (Davila Reefer Terminal), a company of the Group founded in 2002, which has refrigerated facilities in the Port of Marín.
Today, the Davila Group is made up of more than 500 employees, 21 companies in 10 countries around the world. The great growth experienced in recent decades has not prevented it from maintaining its family spirit and the values with which it was founded a century ago.
